Here’s a slate roof project we completed in Kew

We recently completed a roof slating project to a large Victorian period home and its pool house in the Melbourne suburb of Kew. The purpose of the alterations were twofold. Firstly to allow solar pool heating to be installed correctly and safely on a North facing roof slope and to have a supply of matching roof slates to recover the existing pool house.

Our specs for this project were :

After the builders removed the existing Welsh roof slates from an internal section of the roof and recovered it with iron, [to allow for solar tubing] we repaired and made good any damaged areas of the slates
Sort through and grade the salvaged slates ready for installation on the pool house.
Supply and install insulation sarking and 50×38 oregon slate battens to the pool house
Install the salvaged slates.
Supply and install custom made flashings around glass roof area of pool house.

It may have been a lot easier and less costly to just install new roof slates to the pool house, but the owners of the property were adamant that they wanted the slate roofs on each building to match. After all the work was completed the pool house roof blended in perfectly with the slate roof of the house.
